Larissa O'Grady performs 'Body Fragmented' (2024)
Composed by Jenn Kirby. Commissioned by Larissa O'Grady supported by an Arts Council Ireland Commission Award. This work was developed by the artists through CMC's Contemporary Artists Network (also known as CMC Connects) an initiative which supports New Music collaborations.
Throughout the collaborative process, this piece evolved through multiple iterations, exploring various methods of conveying movement-led musical ideas and the fragmentation and disentanglement of bodily experiences.
The work encompasses both live and pre-recorded elements, using a MUGIC device to capture movement and shape the pre-recorded component. Themes of non-linearity and fragmentation are central throughout the piece, navigating connection and separation.
